How it is verified

You hold an Ichnos card in your hands

There are two ways to verify this document:

With your phone

Bring the Ichnos card close to your phone and a notification appears: tap it, and the magic happens.

The encrypted message the chip creates at every touch is decrypted, and the full certificate opens: the photographs, the details of the work, the document.

With the code

If the chip is out of reach, type the code you will find on the paper certificate.

A reduced record opens, telling you whether the certificate exists and is valid. The full document opens only with a touch of the Ichnos card.

You created a work

Three steps, the same for every work, and none can be skipped: in the end, your authorship travels with it, wherever it goes.

  1. You declare

    You describe the work with five photographs and its details, and sign the declaration of authorship with your qualified electronic signature.

  2. A person examines it

    An Ichnos reviewer looks at it with human eyes, on six points: approves it, returns it or refuses it.

  3. The chip makes it verifiable

    The Ichnos card is bound to the certificate, which from that moment is public: whoever holds it verifies it in an instant, with a phone.

The paper certificate

  • It bears a pen signature: to know whether it is really theirs, you need an expert.
  • A good printer is enough to imitate it.
  • To check it you must track down whoever issued it, and hope they are still there.

The Ichnos certificate

  • It bears the author's qualified electronic signature, whose identity a qualified provider has established.
  • The secret is a key sealed inside the chip: every touch creates an encrypted message that is valid only once.
  • Anyone can verify it in an instant, with any phone.

Declared by the author. Not established by us.

Ichnos records a declaration of authorship, signed by the author with a qualified electronic signature at a provider of their own choosing. Who signed it is established by that provider, and their check travels inside the document: it holds even if Ichnos is no longer there.

What it is not

  • An attribution, or an expert opinion: authorship is declared, not established.
  • A check for copies: Ichnos does not detect them.
  • A check of the signature: today Ichnos does not verify it.
